Insurance company for railways and mining

The Insurance Company for Railways and Mining ( VAEB ) was an Austrian social insurance company . It had its main office in Vienna .

The VAEB was responsible for health insurance , accident insurance and pension insurance for the employees of the Austrian Federal Railways , but also for private railways and cable cars throughout Austria . VAEB provided health and pension insurance for mining companies. The VAEB was created in 2005 from the merger of the social security funds for railway workers and miners.

The VAEB was the only social insurance company that was responsible for all three areas , alongside the former social insurance institution for farmers .

There was also a partnership with Wellcon .

On January 1, 2020, VAEB merged with the Insurance Company for Public Employees and the Company Health Insurance Fund of Wiener Linien to form the Insurance Company for Public Employees, Railways and Mining .
