The Social Insurance Institute for Farmers (SVB) carried out health insurance as well as accident and pension insurance for farming families in Austria until 2019 .

The basis for the responsibility for insurance and performance obligations in these areas of social insurance was the Farmers Social Insurance Act. The SVB had its main office in Vienna (this also formed the Lower Austria / Vienna regional office) and seven other regional offices in the federal states of Burgenland , Upper Austria , Salzburg , Tyrol , Vorarlberg , Styria and Carinthia .

history

The SVB was founded in 1974 and was relatively young compared to other insurance companies. However, accident insurance for self-employed farmers went back to 1929 through the Agricultural Workers Insurance Act . In 1958 a pension was introduced for the first time for farmers in old age or in the event of disability or death . In 1969 this so-called “subsidy pension” became a full pension. In 1966, all self-employed farmers received health insurance through the Farmers Health Insurance Act .

In 1974 the Farmer's Health Insurance Fund, the Agricultural and Forestry Social Insurance Institution and the Farmers' Pension Insurance Institution merged to form the Agricultural Social Insurance Institution (SVB).

Karl Donabauer was chairman of the SVB from 1988 to 2012 . He was replaced by Theresia Meier as the new chairwoman.

Merging

On April 1, 2019, the constituent meeting of the SVS transition committee took place, the body that was entrusted with the implementation of the merger of the SVB with the social insurance institute for commercial enterprises (SVA) to form the social insurance institute for the self-employed (SVS).

On January 1, 2020, the SVB was merged with SVA to form SVS.

Online services

The SVB used the so-called BETHI-Betriebshilfe Maschinenring form folder , which simplified the administration and communication of the respective responsible machine or operating aid and the SVB. With this form folder, a replacement could be requested online if a worker was absent. The deployment notification and billing were then carried out directly via the form folder, which was developed by the Austrian company aforms2web . The software manufacturer was a provider of form solutions in e-government and e-business as well as a partner in public administration.
