The Stadtwerke Saarbruecken GmbH (until 30 September 2015 Supply and Transport Company Saarbrücken mbH ) is the leading company of Stadtwerke Saarbruecken Group . The group is the municipal supply and transport service provider for the Saarland state capital Saarbrücken .

Network operation
Stadtwerke Saarbrücken Netz AG operates the pipeline network for water, electricity, gas and district heating for Saarbrücken and the surrounding area.
water
The Saarbrücker Stadtwerke supply the state capital with drinking water from its waterworks in Rentrisch and St. Arnual and from the Blickweiler and Wolfersheim waterworks via a water network of around 845 kilometers. In addition, as the operator of the Bliestal waterworks, Stadtwerke Saarbrücken supplies a total of 29 parts of the city and municipality in the Saarpfalz district with drinking water.
electricity
Saarbrücker Stadtwerke operate and maintain a power grid of around 2,300 kilometers in length and a maximum daily output of 235 megawatts. With the network control center, all local network stations with their submitted networks can be checked, monitored and controlled in the electricity sector.
natural gas
Stadtwerke Saarbrücken operates a natural gas network of 916 km and annual sales of 2.1 billion kWh.
District heating
Stadtwerke Saarbrücken has been operating the district heating network since 1963 with a network length of around 180 km today (city network: 91 km, mountain network: 50 km, rest: 39 km). Around 4,500 customer stations supply 30,000 private households as well as many public facilities and industrial buildings with district heating.
Power generation
The municipal utilities generate energy in five block-type thermal power stations in the Saarbrücken area and feed this into their own network. In addition, the municipal utilities have a 49% stake in Energie SaarLorLux AG u. a. the power plant Römerbrücke operates in Saarbrücken.
Metrology
The group subsidiary co.met has specialized in the field of metering within the municipal utilities and also acts as a nationwide service provider in the metering and intelligent metering systems markets.
Public transport
The Saarbahn GmbH transported with its 130 buses and 28 light rail around 43 million people a year in Saarbrücken and the regional association. The buses and trains cover almost 9 million kilometers a year. Since 1997 the Saarbahn has been the first transport company to travel across borders to and from Sarreguemines in Lorraine .
Saarbrücken baths
Around 450,000 bathers visit the five Saarbrücken baths every year. These include the combined pools in Fechingen and Altenkessel, the indoor and outdoor pools in Dudweiler and the large outdoor pool “Schwarzenbergbad”, which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2019.
Public utility holding company
Stadtwerke Saarbrücken Beteiligungsgesellschaft supports municipal companies in setting up and operating in the areas of energy and water management, local public transport, pool management and other municipal services. Cooperation partners here include the Lebach municipal utilities, the Friedrichsthal municipal utilities and the Eppelborn municipal works.
Group structure
As a municipal company, Stadtwerke Saarbrücken Holding is wholly owned by the state capital of Saarbrücken. The companies of the group include Stadtwerke Saarbrücken Netz AG, Stadtwerke Saarbrücken Bäder GmbH, co.met GmbH Saarbrücken and SWS-Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH.
