Adjustment key

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adjustment key is the name for all types of continuously adjustable wrenches . Due to the variable adjustability, adjustment keys can replace open- end wrenches with different opening sizes. They can also be used to operate screw heads and nuts that do not comply with the current standards , provided that they have parallel outer edges.

Just like fixed-width wrenches and, unlike many gripping pliers, adjustment wrenches have smooth jaws .

The adjustment keys do not include gripping pliers such as water pump pliers , pipe wrenches and locking pliers , which are used to hold pipes or other objects without parallel, flat side surfaces and often have serrated jaws to improve the grip .
