The administration building of Kabelwerke Brugg is a cultural asset of regional importance and is located in the municipality of Windisch in the canton of Aargau .

Building history and description

The administration building of the industrial group Kabelwerke Brugg AG was built in 1957 according to plans by the architects Carl Froelich, Brugg and Hans Kündig, Zurich. Fröhlich also designed the school building and gymnasium Freudenstein in Brugg , both completed in 1956.

On the steeply sloping site triangle at the fork in the road between the Lower and Upper Klosterzelgstrasse, Fröhlich realized a building with eight full floors, a roof structure and two basement floors. The topographical conditions are balanced out by an open substructure on the west side with a wide terrace in front.

architecture

The basic structure of this post-war modern office building consists of two office wings with a staircase or corridor hall in between. Large windows limit the stairwell to the north and south and provide plenty of natural light. In the office sections on both sides, the uniform window axis spacing allows flexible room division with a minimum of structural changes. The external appearance of the building is shaped by the four materials used on the main axis: concrete, glass, aluminum and natural stone cladding (including marble verde Alpi for the parapet areas).
