The Vesijärvi is a lake in the Finnish landscape Päijät-Häme .

The lake has an area of 107.51 km² and is at an altitude of 81.4 m. The cities of Lahti and Asikkala are on the lake shore. Vääksynjoki and Vääksyn Canal drain the lake to Päijänne in the north , which is separated from Vesijärvi by an isthmus.

In the 1960s, the water was badly affected by eutrophication . Countermeasures were then taken in the 1970s.

The eastern Teilsee of Vesijärvi forms of Enonselkä . There is also the island of Enonsaari .

The translation of the lake name literally means "water lake".
