The Association for Movement Games Waldshut 1910 eV (VfB Waldshut) is a football club in Waldshut-Tiengen .

history

The beginnings of football in Waldshut are at the beginning of the 20th century. First of all, FC Waldshut was founded on September 24, 1909. But this only existed for a short time. One year later, on September 28, 1910, VfB Waldshut was founded.

The club went through major changes in the 30s and 40s. First, VfB Waldshut merged on August 22, 1930 with the Postsportverein (PSV) Waldshut to form the 1910 Waldshut game association. This soccer marriage only lasted a few years. VfB Waldshut was re-established on September 24, 1938. Due to the Second World War , gaming operations ceased in the summer of 1944.

After the end of the war, the French military authorities dissolved all existing sports clubs. This also included VfB Waldshut. At the time it was common that the members of the disbanded associations of a place had to get together to found a new association. Therefore, on April 8, 1946, the Waldshut sports club was founded with football, handball, gymnastics, athletics and skiing. After the founding of the Federal Republic of Germany, old associations were re-established in many places. In Waldshut, TV Waldshut split off from the Waldshut sports club in 1882. As a result, the Waldshut sports club was renamed VfB Waldshut in April 1950.

The club experienced troubled times at the end of the 1960s. On July 11, 1968 the founding of the Verein der Sportfreunde Waldshut 1968 eV took place, which now competed with VfB and ESV Waldshut. In particular, the shared use of the stadium by VfB and Sportfreunde led to heated discussions between the two clubs and the city. In the Alb Bote, a fourth club was even announced with Rot-Weiß Waldshut, but it remained when it was announced. The disputes did not end until 1970. On January 23, 1970, VfB and Sportfreunde Waldshut decided to merge to form VfB-SF Waldshut with effect from the 1970/71 season. However, the press generally left out the addition "-SF". The official renaming to VfB Waldshut resulted from 1974.

successes

The club secured the greatest successes in 1940: In the Tschammerpokal 1940 (predecessor of the DFB-Pokal), VfB Waldshut threw FC Weil and the Gauligists Freiburger FC and SC Freiburg out of the race in the first three main rounds . In the first final round, VfB then eliminated 8-0 on August 25, 1940 against the Stuttgarter Kickers. 2000 spectators followed the game.

After 1945 the club never played higher than in the 2nd amateur league, which today corresponds to the state league. Most of the time he could even be found in one of the divisions at the district level. VfB experienced its sporting low point in the 2011/12 season, when it only played in the district B league. This was followed by two promotions in a row and thus the return to the district league.
