Viaduc d'Yverdon

The Viaduc d'Yverdon near the town of Yverdon-les-Bains in the canton of Vaud is part of the A5 motorway , is part of the bypass of Yverdon-les-Bains and, at 3,155 meters, is the longest viaduct in Switzerland.

The viaduct was built in 1982 by the Perret-Gentil, Rey & Associés engineering firm and commissioned in 1984. It crosses the Orbe plain , including four bodies of water - the Thielle , the Mujon , the Oriental Canal and the Bey - the Lausanne train line. Yverdon and several streets. The bridge has two lanes and one hard shoulder in each direction. It is supported by pairs of pillars with a standard span of 32 m at a height of about 8 m above the former swampy terrain of the Orbe plain.
