Vicente Pereda (born July 18, 1941 in Toluca , Edo. De México ), also known by the nickname El Diablo Mayor , is a retired Mexican football player in the position of striker .
Life

Pereda began his active career in the 1960/61 season with his hometown club CD Toluca , with which he was under contract throughout his 15-year professional career and with whom he won the first three championship titles in the club's history in the seasons 1966/67, 1967 / 68 and 1974/75 won. In addition, Pereda was the top scorer of the Mexican Primera División with 20 goals in the 1969/70 season . These successes made him supposedly the best devil, "El Diablo Mayor", as his nickname is.
National team
Pereda made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on March 28, 1963 in the 8-0 win against Jamaica, to which he immediately contributed a goal. After that, he was called back to the national team only in 1967, appeared five times that year and scored one goal. 1968 was his most successful year for international matches with eight appearances and four goals. After he was allowed to complete six more missions in 1969, in which he did not succeed, he only completed one game in 1970. The 1-0 loss to Sweden on March 1, 1970 was also his departure from the national team.
In 1968 he took part with the amateur team in the Olympic soccer tournament in Mexico. He scored three goals and is therefore together with Héctor Pulido (who also scored 3 goals in 1968) and Víctor Rangel , who succeeded in 1976, Mexican record scorer at the Olympic Games. The team played in the game for bronze, which was lost 2-0 to Japan in front of a record crowd of 105,000 spectators.
