Victor Cavallo (actually Vittorio Vitolo ; born May 8, 1947 in Rome , † January 22, 2000 there ) was an Italian actor .

Life

Cavallo initially tried his hand at poet, but couldn't find a publisher. In 1974 he made his debut as an actor in L'uomo di Babilonia under the director Giuliano Vasilicò . Engagements with cabaret and other stage works followed, in which he also worked with Memè Perlini , who gave him his first film role in his Grand Hôtel des Palmes (1978). In 1981 Bernardo Bertolucci engaged him for the role of the labor priest Adelfo involved in a kidnapping in his The Tragedy of a Ridiculous Man . In the young Italian cinema of the decade, the small and stocky Cavallo, who underscored his game with an intense look and clear gestures, became a fixture. From the 1990s he was used more and more in supporting roles. His multiple collaborations with director Francesca Archibugi are also remarkable .

Cavallo died in 2000 of cirrhosis of the liver after several serious illnesses .
