Victor Emil Scherer (born October 3, 1881 in Basel , † February 13, 1941 in Arosa ) was a Swiss politician .

biography

Victor Emil Scherer studied law in Basel and Berlin . In 1903 he received his doctorate. iur. and was admitted to the bar the following year. Scherer began to be politically active early on. In 1904 he was one of the founders of the Young Liberal Movement. 1911–1926 and 1929–1941 he was a member of the Basel Grand Council, which he presided over in 1916. 1919–1925 he sat on the Council of States, 1929–1941 on the National Council. 1917–1925 he presided over the radical democratic party in Basel.
