Konrad von Sarstedt was enrolled at the University of Erfurt in the summer semester of 1405 and presumably received his degree as a "Bachelor of Artes" in the summer semester of 1407.

Like an uncle and a great-uncle von Sarstedt before , he received a position as council clerk in Hanover from 1411 to 1421. At the same time, the city council awarded him a vicarie at the Heilig-Geist-Spital in Hanover as benefice . From 1429 until the end of his life, von Sarstedt held the position of pastor at the Hanoverian market church and was, also parallel and until his death and while maintaining his residence in Hanover, "1432 or 1433" provost at the Lüne monastery .

Although von Sarstedt is buried at the Lüne monastery, an epitaph and his seal as pastor have been preserved on the market church in Hanover .

Konrad von Sarstedt enriched his hometown with several foundations. These included the book collection he built up at the Marktkirche and financed from his own resources. His donation , notarized on April 23, 1440, forms the beginning and - together with the book collection of Volkmar von Anderten - the basis of the council library and thus that of the Hanover city library .
