Brigide Schwarz (born January 19, 1940 in Augsburg ; † February 13, 2019 ) was a German medieval historian who was particularly concerned with the staff of the papal chancellery in the late Middle Ages, the granting of benefices to clerics and the evaluation of the registers of Pope Eugene IV . has dealt.

In her dissertation, supervised by Reinhard Elze , which was submitted in the winter semester 1968/69, the focus is on the collegial organization of the staff of the papal chancellery. During her time as a scholarship holder at the German Historical Institute in Rome from autumn 1966 to spring 1968, she worked on the Repertorium Germanicum for the pontificate of Eugen IV alongside Hermann Diener . In 1978 she completed her habilitation in Berlin and worked as an academic senior counselor and adjunct professor at the University of Hanover until 1998 . From 1988 to 1992 she was seconded to the German Historical Institute in Rome for further research at the Repertorium Germanicum. From 1997 to 2003 she was also a member of the scientific advisory board of the German Historical Institute.

On May 4, 2013, she was awarded the Premio Daria Borghese by the Gruppo dei Romanisti , an association that has existed since 1929, in Palazzo Borghese . The prize has been given annually since 1965 to a non-Italian author whose work is important to the history and culture of Rome.
