Victor Gischler

Victor Gischler (* 1969 ) is an American crime writer of so-called hardboiled novels . His works are characterized by a satirical examination of the respective genre and a high degree of self-irony.

life and work

Victor Gischler is married and lives in Baton Rouge , Louisiana. He received his PhD in English from the University of Southern Michigan.

His debut novel "Gun Monkeys" was nominated for an Edgar Allan Poe Award and his novel "Shotgun Opera" was an Anthony Award finalist. His works have so far been translated into German, Italian, French, Spanish and Japanese, and comparisons are often made with Douglas Adams , Christopher Moore , but also Kurt Vonnegut and even - although not a writer - Quentin Tarantino . His fifth novel Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse was published in 2008 by Touchstone / Fireside, a division of Simon & Schuster Verlag. The novel was published in German by Piper Verlag as “The Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse”.

He is also active as a comic book author and so he wrote for the series "The Punisher: Frank Castle" and Deadpool from the house of Marvel Comics . Gischler is currently working on the X-Men sequel "Curse of The Mutants", which will also be published by Marvel.
