Victoria Island is the economic center of the Nigerian city ​​of Lagos .

Victoria Island forms the western end of the Local Government Area Eti Osa and is located in the Lagoon of Lagos . To the north are the islands of Ikoyi and Lagos Island , to the east the Lekki peninsula .

Victoria Island, named after the British Queen Victoria , used to be a residential area reserved for Europeans and high officials. Even today, Victoria Island is an expensive residential area with many shops, restaurants and nightclubs. With the prosperity of the residents, there is a high number of street vendors and beggars on Victoria Island. Since 2009, a new district called Eko Atlantic City has been built in the sea off Victoria Island .
