At 1120 meters, Victoria Peak is the second highest mountain in Belize and part of the Cockscomb Range in the Maya Mountains . Until a few years ago it was considered the highest peak in the country, but the latest geophysical measurements have shown that Doyle's Delight is 4 meters higher. Nevertheless, Victoria Peak is commonly known as the tallest mountain in Belize.
For a number of years, tours have also been offered with the aim of reaching the summit; these tours are not rated as too demanding, but are very strenuous.
Victoria Peak is located in the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary , a nature reserve where the flora and fauna are still fairly intact. The first exploration of the mountain was carried out in 1888/89 by a British expedition team, but they mistakenly climbed a neighboring summit.
