Doyle's Delight

At 1124  m, Doyle's Delight is the highest mountain in Belize, Central America .

For a long time, Victoria Peak was believed to be the highest point in Belize. However, recent measurements have shown that the Doyle's Delight is four meters higher. Just like Victoria Peak, Doyle's Delight is located in the Maya Mountains on the border of the two provinces of Toledo and Cayo .

The name Doyle's Delight came about in 1989, when the expedition leader Sharon Matola read a book by Arthur Conan Doyle The Lost World from 1912, which quoted the quote “there must be something wild and wonderful in a country such as this, and we're the men to find it out ” and Matola linked this quote with the mountain. The name is now widely accepted and has also been adopted by the Belizean government.
