Viekšniai (German: Wiekschnen ) is a town in the Rajongemeinde Mažeikiai in northwest Lithuania . It is located 17 km southeast of Mažeikiai on the road No. 155, which leads from Mažeikiai to Kuršėnai .

In 2011 the city had 1938 inhabitants.

Viekšniai is located on the Venta (German: Windau ), a river in northwestern Lithuania and western Latvia .
