The Viel Harmoniker were a German music group in the field of hit music .

Career

The group was founded in 1976 by Gert Wilden as a vocal ensemble with piano accompaniment in Munich . In the style of the Comedian Harmonists, the ensemble sang mainly songs from the 1920s and 1930s, as well as new compositions in the style of that time.

Initially the members were Toni Rosner, Siegfried Hussner, Alo Schnurrer, Wolfgang Schultz and Walter Leykauf . The latter was already successful with the Nilsen Brothers and has been a successful singer of popular music since 1984. After he left the group, Günther Graf was his successor, who remained an integral part of the group as the second baritone until the group was dissolved. Founder and composer Gert Wilden accompanied the singers on the piano.

The Viel-Harmoniker recorded numerous titles by the Comedian Harmonists, but also other well-known hits, and were soon known beyond Germany's borders. They entered tails and cylinder and were in many music programs of radio and television guest, such as in the entertainment show to the Blue Boar . In addition, they gave numerous concerts all over Europe, even in China and South America. A total of 18 long-playing records were released.

In 1980 the Viel-Harmoniker took part in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest . Her song In der Oper took tenth place.
