Versatility test (fishing)

The eventing test is a team sport of fishing and a precision sport in which the handling of the fishing tackle on land and in water is trained.

The versatility test

The versatility test consists of three disciplines: the target throw, the long throw and collective fishing. The aim is to learn how to use fishing tackle on the water and on land. The main focus and above all the most extensive training time is on the casting disciplines, which are carried out in a simplified form compared to casting / fishing in order to achieve the largest possible community of interests.

The versatility test is a team event where a team consists of three members.

Composition of the 3-person teams:

  • Young people and women with no age restrictions.
  • Men's:

Casting disciplines

The target throw

The target throw and long throw are carried out with the same device and one after the other. The throwing weight is a plastic weight (7.5 g) in the form of drops. The cord diameter is at least 0.20 mm. Any rod with a maximum length of 2.50 m is used as a rod. The casting disciplines are carried out on a lawn (sports field). The lane width is 20 m.

Target throw

The target throw consists of ten throws on the Arenberg cloth . It starts with five throws from a distance of 10 meters, followed by five throws from a distance of 15 meters. The throwing style is arbitrary.

Long throw

Three long-distance throws are made from the 15-meter starting board in a 20 m wide lane. The furthest throw is scored, with the same rod as the target throw.

The fishing is to be carried out in such a way that only hegemonic concerns are fulfilled. The fishing time is 150 minutes. Angling is done with a coarse fishing rod equipped with a hook and a lead-carrying float . More fishing rods can be ready-assembled.

The rod lengths are limited to a maximum of:

  • 9.50 m (students)
  • 11.50 m (women / youth)
  • 13.00 m (men)
