The Fourth Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge is a bridge over the Mekong . It connects Chiang Khong , Chiang Rai Province in Thailand and Ban Houayxay , Bokeo Province in Laos .

General

The Fourth Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge is about 480 meters long and about 14.70 meters wide. This bridge is a joint project of Thailand , Laos and China and is part of the Kunming-Bangkok Expressway and Asian Highway Project AH3 . The construction costs of 1.57 billion Baht will be borne half by Thailand and China. Construction began in 2010, on December 11, 2013 the bridge was officially opened by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn . Thailand's interim prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Laos vice president Boungnang Vorachith also attended the opening .
