The fourth ring road ( Russian четвёртое транспортное кольцо / tschetvjortoje transportnoje kolzo ) is a ring road under construction in the Russian capital Moscow . The ring is to run outside the 36-kilometer-long third traffic ring , but within the 109-kilometer-long MKAD and relieve these existing ring motorways.

Planning

Construction of the first section in the east of the city began in early February 2007. According to the current state of planning, the closed ring will have a circumference of 74 kilometers. The Moskva is to be crossed over a large area by a four-kilometer tunnel. 16 kilometers of the ring will run on existing main roads, which must first be expanded accordingly. Part of the construction will also be carried out along an existing ring line of the railway.
