Viive Sterpu

Viive Sterpu (formerly Sirkel; born December 17, 1953 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ; † December 5, 2012 ) was an Estonian artist and lived in Tallinn.

Viive Sterpu mostly drew with pastel colors on sandpaper. Graphics and glass processing also had a part in her work. She found her motifs in everyday life and the works expressed a feminine tenderness on the one hand and the loneliness of a city woman on the other. She loved animals and nature and these motifs often show up in her works. The colors are pure and in a harmonious relationship to one another. She signed her works with Viive . Before their marriage, the signature was called Sirkel .

Exhibitions

Viive Sterpu had both private and joint exhibitions in Estonia , Finland and Italy .

The heroines of Puccini

Inspired by the music of Giacomo Puccini , Viive Sterpu has created a collection of 12 pictures: The heroines of Puccini . This collection with 14 heroines - Anna, Tigrana, Manon, Mimi / Musetta, Tosca, Cio-Cio-San, Minnie, Magda, Giorgetta, Sister Angeliga, Lauretta, Liú / Turandot - was transferred to the Villa Museo Giacomo Puccini in April 2007 ( Torre del Lago Puccini , Italy ). This donation was received by Giacomo Puccini's granddaughter Signora Simonetta Puccini .

Others

Viive Sterpu's works are sold all over the world. She also created the drawings with Puccini motifs for a stamp series for the Finnish company Kaleva Travel . A documentary film Viive and Eugen Sterpu was made by Viive and her husband in 2004 and shown in series Subjectiiv in ETV (Eesti Televisioon) .
