Viktor Jantzen

Viktor Jantzen (born October 17, 1875 in Hamburg , † May 18, 1956 in Düsseldorf ) was a German politician (SPD).

Life

After attending primary school in Hamburg, Jantzen learned carpentry from 1891 to 1894. He then worked as a carpenter in major German and foreign cities until 1903. In 1903 he took over a position as Gauleiter for the Gau district of Rhineland, Westphalia and Lippe-Detmold at the Central Association of Carpenters and Related Professional Members in Germany. He also became a member of the state commission of the free trade unions for Rhineland-Westphalia and chairman of the free trade unions for Düsseldorf and the surrounding area.

In January 1919 Jantzen was elected to the Weimar National Assembly for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) , in which he represented constituency 22 (Düsseldorf), and of which he was a member until the first Reichstag of the Weimar Republic met in July 1920.
