Viktor Staudt

Viktor Staudt (born March 7, 1969 in the Netherlands ; † September 8, 2019 in Pianoro , Italy ) was a Dutch lawyer and writer . He was particularly active in the prevention of suicide after he lost in 1999 by an attempted suicide rail both legs.

Staudt suffered from depression as a child ; borderline disorder was diagnosed after the suicide attempt . He studied law and worked for an airline for ten years before he attempted suicide. After his rehabilitation, he first lived in Germany and Switzerland . Since 2011 he lived in Pianoro near Bologna in Italy .

In his book The Story of My Suicide , he wrote about the situation that led to his attempted suicide as well as the way back to life. He lectured at numerous events and tried to show people at risk of suicide a way out. In particular, he wanted to use the Papageno effect to prevent further suicides. He died of suicide in early September 2019 at the age of 50.
