Vilar de Murteda is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the northern Portuguese district of Viana do Castelo in the Minho-Lima sub-region . The community had 214 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Vilar de Murteda, Nogueira and Meixedo were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Nogueira, Meixedo e Vilar de Murteda .
