Vilar do Monte is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the northern Portuguese district of Barcelos . The community had 681 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
In the course of the regional reform on September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Vilar do Monte and Tamel (Santa Leocádia) were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Tamel (Santa Leocádia) e Vilar do Monte .
