The Vileda GmbH is the German sales company of Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions , headquartered in Weinheim on the mountain road. It sells mechanical and electrical cleaning products under the Vileda brand .
history
Vileda Germany
The Vileda brand belongs to the Freudenberg Group and here to the Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions (FHCS) division.
The origins of the company go back to the takeover of the Heintze und Sammet tannery in Weinheim by Carl Johann Freudenberg in 1849. In 1936, the company took over a process for the production of synthetic leather from Carl Ludwig Nottebohm . After further development of the process, the “Vileda window cloth” was brought onto the market in 1948.
In order to do justice to the market, Freudenberg founded an independent sales company in 1962 - Vileda GmbH. This enabled the rapid development of a nationwide sales network.
The brand name "Vileda"
The brand name “Vileda” is a modification of the colloquial “like leather”, as the cloth made of nonwoven and soaked in rubber felt “like leather”.
