Vilela is a place and a former municipality in northern Portugal .
Vilela belongs to the Amares county in the Braga district . The community had an area of 2.8 km² and 297 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the parishes of Vilela, Paredes Secas and Seramil were merged to form the new parish União das Freguesias de Vilela, Seramil e Paredes Secas . Vilela is the seat of this newly formed community.
