The AB Vilkaviškio konservai was a Lithuanian company for various canned goods and apple syrup production. The Vilkaviškis- based company held the largest market share in the Baltic States . It also has additional business. A variety of fillings, jams and tomato sauces were produced. Tomato sauce was made according to the old recipes, without chemical additives, with the preservative ( potassium sorbate ).
history
The first product of the Vilkaviškis canning factory ( Vilkaviškio konservų fabrikas ) was cherry jam. It was made in Soviet Lithuania from 1962 . After 25 years of production, there were canned food with 80 names. The factory produced 25–26 million trays (relative weight of one tray: 475 g) in cans . Every year 1,500 tons of beets, about 800 tons of potatoes, 400 tons of carrots, about 5000 tons of apples and about 1,000 tons of fruit and berries were processed. There were 1,500 employees in the factory. The factory was under the Ministry of Fruit and Vegetables ( Vaisių ir daržovių ūkio ministerija ). On November 21, 1990, the Vilkaviškis canning factory became Akcinė bendrovė "Vilkaviškio konservai" (located at 13 Pramonės St.). On April 10, 2002 "Vilkaviškio konservai" was dissolved.
On January 25, 1999, the Vaiskona Joint Stock Company (UAB) was established in the former canning factory (13 Pramonės St.). From 1999 to 2003 it was directed by Rymantas Sinkevičius. The company uses the devices of the Swiss company "BUCHER - Unipektin". In 2012 it achieved a turnover of 6 million euros. Over 80% of the production is exported to other EU countries such as Poland , Germany, Austria and Italy . In 2010, 4,000 tons of apples were bought from farmers and residents. On November 16, 2010 a subsidiary UAB "Vaiskona Cargo" was founded (director Vilmantas Navickas from 2010 to 2011). In 2012 it had 15 employees.
