The Villa Alexander is a listed villa in the city of Naumburg in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments it is listed under registration number 107 05082 as a monument .

General

The Villa Alexander has been a listed building as a single building since 2017 and, as part of the street, also belongs to the monument area of ​​the Hochstraße in Naumburg.

layout

The villa is a two-storey building with a high mansard roof in a reduced Art Nouveau style . The building is structured by dormers and dwarf houses in the roof area as well as by bay extensions . On the street side there is a balcony with a semicircular terrace . The building has a front garden with a corner pavilion and a large park-like garden on the north side.

On the first floor there is a large hall, living rooms, a large dining room and a veranda in the original room layout . Many construction-time elements have been preserved, including floor coverings, wall cladding made of natural stone and wood , the doors, windows and the staircase. The bedrooms were upstairs. Here, too, elements from the construction period have been preserved, including doors and wall cupboards. Remnants of the wall and floor cladding in natural stone have been preserved from the bathroom furnishings. The rear area of ​​the building and the top floor have been changed by modern installations. Overall, however, the villa is an authentically preserved testimony to upper-class living culture and lifestyle at the beginning of the 20th century.

In the basement of the villa there are prison cells from the time when the Soviet city commandant lived here.

history

The villa was built in 1912 by master mason Carl Riedling jun. for Captain Adolf Alexander. After the Second World War , the building was the seat of the Soviet city commanders.

The Villa Alexander is located at Hochstrasse 2 on the southern edge of the Naumburg Bürgergartenviertel.
