Villa Bayer (Erkrath)
The Villa Bayer is a listed building on the Falkenberg in Erkrath-Hochdahl .
history
The building was erected in 1898/99 on behalf of the Commerce Councilor Arthur Meckel based on designs by the Berlin architects Heinrich Kayser and Karl von Großheim . Initially called Haus Falkenberg, the house is now known by the family name of its future owner Friedrich Bayer . The son of the company founder of the same name, Friedr. Bayer & Comp. acquired the house in 1910. At that time, the property included large forest areas, two farms, a guest house and other buildings for gardeners, coachmen and foresters. The main building underwent some renovations under Friedrich Bayer, who used the house as a retirement home. The property remained in the family until the 1970s.
After that, the use of the house was rededicated for office purposes. Between 2008 and 2010 the property was empty and should be sold. In summer 2010, the owner decided to use the villa with his own company and renovated the building from August to December 2010.
description
To the left of the house is a round corner tower. The central axis of the facade is shaped by a tail gable in the top floor area. On the first floor in the central axis there is an arbor that rests on columns . The architrave resting on the pillars is adorned with teardrop-like guttae . The building was later expanded to include an east terrace with columns and a south terrace. The house has a living and usable area of around 1200 square meters.
