Villa Blumenthal

The Villa Blumenthal in Bad Ischl ( Upper Austria ) is one of the first prefabricated houses in wood panel construction .

The prefabricated villa in forms of historicism was built according to a design by the architect Johannes Lange of Wolgaster Actien-Gesellschaft für Holzverarbeitung from pitch pine , the particularly weather-resistant and aging-resistant wood of the North American pitch pine . The house has a shingle roof and porches and windows with carved decorations.

The building was built in Berlin in 1890 by the architect Johannes Lange . For the world exhibition in Chicago in 1893 , the villa was dismantled again in order to rebuild and exhibit it on site. Visitors to the world exhibition also included the playwright Oskar Blumenthal , who liked the house so much that he bought it and after the exhibition - dismantled again - had it shipped to Bad Ischl to be there on the Soleweg between Hallstatt and Bad To have Ischl rebuilt near Engleithen.

In the villa in 1896 Blumenthal wrote the comedy "Im Weißen Rössl" together with Gustav Kadelburg , which served as the template for the operetta " Im Weißen Rössl", which premiered in 1930 and was later filmed several times .

The artist Alfred Wilhelm Brandel (* 1889 in Budapest) lived in the villa from 1946 until his death in 1973.

After a few years of decline, the villa was renovated in the early 1980s and made winter-proof for year-round use. After 37 years, the author and founder of the adult publisher ÖKM , Peter Janisch (* 1942), sold the villa to the Ischl-born music publisher Alexander de Goederen in 2018.
