The Bundesrealgymnasium Gröhrmühlgasse is a Bundesrealgymnasium in the city of Wiener Neustadt in Lower Austria .

Burkhard Villa

The Bundesrealgymnasium was built on the former factory site of the wire pin manufacturer Franz Burkhard's sons on Gröhrmühlgasse. The still existing was Burkhard villa , which was built from 1884 to 1885 by the sons as a representative owner building, and preservation was found involved in the school system. The villa was built according to the plans of the architect Georg Wilhelm Mayer . The style is modeled on a Renaissance palazzo. A two-armed baluster-structured staircase leads to a three-arched entrance loggia with columns. The façade shows projections framed by plastering stones and ends with a baluster attica. In the ballroom is a ceiling painting from the construction period with depictions of putti and floral motifs. The park wall with a lance grille between pillars is from the construction period.

school-building

The newly built school building with a brick facade designed by the architects Alois Machatschek + Gerhard Molzbichler was rushed into in November 1981 because the old school building on Herzog-Leopold-Strasse was in acute danger of collapsing. The official opening of the school in Gröhrmühlgasse took place with a ceremony on February 26, 1982. Due to the continued growth in the number of students, a solution with room roofs was found in 2011 with the Hrabal architectural office.
