The Mattoni Castle , now Czech : Mattoniho Vila called with the surrounding castle park is located in the southern part of the former spa Kyselka in Karlovarský kraj , Czech Republic and was the home of the mineral water entrepreneur Heinrich Mattoni and his family. It has been a listed building since 2012.

history

The castle-like villa was built in 1868 as a simple bathhouse and used as a spa house. On the advice of Josef von Löschner , Mattoni bought the whole place in 1873. From 1885 to 1886 he had the villa building extensively renovated and set up his living quarters and the headquarters of his mineral water company from which he managed it. He lived there until his death in 1910.

After that, the building housed a Czech school, which was closed in 1938 due to the Munich Agreement . A short time later, the house, which now also had a coffee house, was opened to the public.

On May 7, 1945, the building was damaged by gunfire when Czech partisans fought bitterly with the German population. On May 9th, a Czechoslovak and a Soviet flag were hoisted on the balcony as a sign of victory . In January 1946, the German coffee house in the building was closed and the Czechoslovak army temporarily used the large basement rooms. In 1948, the villa was by the new Communist regime nationalized and in 1951 a home for orphans of was the Greek Civil War set in it, which was closed again in 1956/57.

The building then stood empty until a company bought it around the year 2000. They sold it to six people in 2006, who in turn had it auctioned in 2011. In 2012 the villa was nationalized again after a visit by Václav Klaus . From May 2013 the restoration of the historic building began. The work came to a standstill.
