Villa Nordstern

The Villa North Star is a Built in 1892, now under renovation located Villa in the Iltener street in Lehrte (formerly Ilten ).

history

In 1892 the cement manufacturer and horse breeder Hermann Manske (1839–1918) had the villa built in Ilten. It served as the residential and company headquarters of the limited partnership Portland cement factory Alemannia H. Manske & Co., which was founded in 1906, and was named after his horse "Nordstern". Manske had a successful stud farm that had a branch in what was then the extensive area around the villa.

It was later used as a children's home until around 1990, after which it was owned by the Hannover Region Grundstücksgesellschaft (HRG).

The affiliation to the area of Sehnde ended on March 25, 2004 with an exchange of area between Sehnde and Lehrte, since Lehrte needed this area for urban development. Since then, the Villa Nordstern development area has been built around the villa.

In 2004 the villa in need of renovation was sold to a private person. Since 2008, the city of Lehrte has tried to urge the new owner to renovate in terms of monument protection . The buyer, who had moved to South Africa, could not be found at first and then handed the villa over to his son. The new owner repeatedly reported trespassing to the police, as there had been several break-ins into the villa, some of which were also filmed. Some of these films from the villa, which is seen as a haunted house by young people in particular , have even been uploaded to video portals.

The Lehrter project developer Rolf Neumann acquired the villa on September 1, 2018. He plans to sell parts of the 42,000 square meter property as building land. A kindergarten is to be built on the 1,600 square meters of living space in the villa by 2022. Politicians welcomed the project across all parties. The total investment should amount to 3.5 million euros.
