Waters Corporation ( NYSE : WAT) is an American technology company based in Milford, Massachusetts . The company has around 6,500 employees and production facilities in Milford, Taunton (Massachusetts) , Wexford in Ireland, Manchester in England, Frechen in Germany and has contract manufacturing in Singapore .

Waters Corporation's main products are analytical devices from the areas of HPLC , mass spectrometry coupling, laboratory information technology, rheometry, thermal analysis and microcalorimetry.

history

Founded in 1958 by James (Jim) Logan Waters in Framingham , Massachusetts. In 1972 it merged with Millipore Inc. (now Merck Millipore ). In 1993 Waters became independent again under President and CEO Douglas A. Berthiaume . In May 1996, TA Instruments Inc. , a leading manufacturer of rheometry , thermal analysis and micro calorimetry , became a subsidiary of Waters Corporation. In 1997, Waters acquired the British mass spectrometer manufacturer Micromass , based in Manchester, for US $ 176 million.
