The Villa Schau ins Land is a listed building on Hermann-Prell-Straße 9 in the Loschwitz district of Dresden .

history

The Villa Schau ins Land was built in 1902 by Theodor Richter for the ophthalmologist Julius Christoph. The property belonged to the kitchen furniture manufacturer Carl Eschebach . After other private individuals, the doctor Werner Kühne acquired the villa in 1963, but was not allowed to live in it. In 1995 the villa was renovated by the Kühnes family, who had since passed away.

Building description

The Villa Schau ins Land belongs to the Villa Tiberius and the Villa Meßmacher on the same street as "one of the most impressive [buildings] of the villa colony". The villa is a representative building with a curved gable and tower with a pointed roof. From here you have a good view of the Elbe valley, which is what gave the villa its name. The building was built on granite, which is why its floor plan is irregular: the tower is relatively narrow and tapering to a point, while the gable side of the villa is offset towards the street. The gable is provided with subtle Art Nouveau ornaments and bears the words "Schau ins Land" on the gable window.
