The Meßmacher Villa is a listed building on Hermann-Prell-Straße 8 in the Loschwitz district of Dresden .

history

The Villa Meßmacher was built from 1898 to 1900 by Georg Schramm (1848–1925) for the Imperial Russian Real and Secret State Councilor Georg Ernst von Meßmacher (1848–1925). Messmacher was among other things Saxony's ambassador to Russia for several years. After his death, the villa became the property of Barbara von Meßmachers and was later used as a clinic and children's home. In 1997 the villa was renovated and seven apartments were created in the house.

Building description

The villa in the neo-renaissance style is one of the most impressive [buildings] in the villa colony, along with the Villa Schau ins Land and Villa Tiberius on the same street. It is characterized by "numerous extravagances", has half-timbered bay windows, wooden balconies and a bridge facing the street. A curved flight of stairs leads into the garden . The ornate onion dome on the roof is a clear indication of the profession of a measuring instrument .
