Georgi Maximovich Pushkin
Georgy Pushkin ( Russian Георгий Максимович Пушкин ; born January 21 . Jul / 3. February 1909 greg. In Malaya Konopljanka, Smolensk , † 2. April 1963 in Moscow ) was a Soviet diplomat and politician .
Pushkin, previously ambassador to Budapest, was the first diplomatic representative of the USSR in East Berlin from November 4, 1949 to May 31, 1952 . Between 1952 and 1954 he was Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the USSR under Foreign Ministers Andrei Vyshinsky and Vyacheslav Molotov . In 1954 the diplomatic mission in the GDR was raised to the rank of an embassy and Pushkin was appointed "Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR to the German Democratic Republic and High Commissioner in Germany". Between 1959 and 1963, Pushkin was Deputy Foreign Minister under Andrei Gromyko .
