Villa Serrana is a town in Uruguay .

geography

It is located in the south of the Lavalleja department in its 7th administrative section about 25 kilometers northeast of the department capital Minas . Villa Serrana is located in the Sierras de Minas between the valleys of the Arroyo Penitente and Arroyo Marmarajá at a level of 300 meters above sea level. There is a reservoir near Villa Serranas. To the east of the village, the Cuchilla del Aiguá extends from north to south , while the Cuchilla del Pozo merges into the Cuchilla Grande to the northwest , which also meets the Cuchilla del Aiguá south of the village . In the west is the Cerro de los Perros , in the southwest of the Cerro de los Cuervos . A few kilometers southeast of Villa Serrana is the Cerro Pelado , while to the east and northeast respectively Cerro Puntiagudo and Cerro Largo and in the north the Cerro Marmarajá are named topographical elevations.

Infrastructure

Via the Ruta 8 , which runs about five kilometers from the village, it is also connected to the bus network and can therefore be reached from the Tres Cruces terminal in Montevideo. The Ruta 8 itself is connected to the site via two access routes at kilometer points 139.5 and 145. The place has an extensive infrastructure of restaurants and hotels.

history

Villa Serrana was designed and built from 1945 under the leadership of the architect Julio Vilamajó as a resort in the European style.
