history

In 1901 the villa was built according to plans by the Frankfurt architect Alfred Günther . The client was the Frankfurt doctor Dr. med. Gustav Spieß (1862–1948), who wanted to use the house as a summer house. Gustav Spieß was a successful doctor and since 1910 chief physician at the Frankfurt ear, nose and throat clinic. Gustav Spieß was very interested in music. Many singers with their vocal problems were his patients and often his guests in the villa. Richard Strauss was also a guest at Villa Spieß. In World War II, the primary residence of Gustav spit was destroyed by air strikes. Now the family used the Villa Spieß as their primary residence. In 1964, Gustav Spieß's daughter sold the villa to theEvangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau . This used the villa as the main building of their Religious Education Center (RPZ). The other buildings of the RPZ were erected in the park of the villa. The RPZ was closed at the end of 2012.

Building description

The villa at Im Brühl 30 is located on gently sloping terrain in Schönberg. The main house is built in the English country house style and has stylistic similarities with the nearby Friedrichshof Palace . Both objects have Tudor-style shapes in the massive components . The architect's goals were the separation of the main and farm buildings, and a lively versatility of the facade, which is achieved, among other things, by a three-sided and a polygonal bay . The facade is made of stone, plaster and wood and is varied with wooden balconies and different dormers . The interior is also of high quality.
