The Villa Waldbühl or the Landhaus Waldbühl is a country house in Uzwil , Switzerland, built by the English architect Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott in the style of the Arts and Crafts Movement .

The villa, together with the ensemble, consisting of the villa, the park and the interior, forms one of the most important objects in Baillie Scott's list of works, especially with regard to the fully preserved furnishings. It is the only one of his kind in Switzerland. It is in an exceptionally good original condition.

Theodor Bühler from the Bühler industrial family in Uzwil knew Baillie Scott from his time in London , where he was doing his training, and the country house was built on his behalf from 1909 (according to the building application) to 1911. The architects Pflegehard and Haefeli , who had built the Landhaus Sonnenhügel a few years earlier for Adolf Bühler , Theodor's oldest brother , sketched a preliminary study for a residential complex called the Holzbüel in 1907 , but this was not further developed.

The interior decoration in Art Nouveau style (rooms, furniture, equipment up to flacons) was designed by Scott, executed and introduced by English companies. The villa is surrounded by a park consisting of an architectural garden with pergola, stairways, pool and bathhouse. This was also designed by Scott, his original plans were based on a larger garden.

The architect Armin Witmer-Karrer took over the construction management in the somewhat remote country house, in which the Tudor style has been combined with the Swiss-Bünderische forms in the Heimatstil .

The property is registered as Villa Waldbühl as an individual property of national importance in the list of the Swiss inventory of cultural assets of national and regional importance .
