Legend
It was owned by the church father Augustine († 430). After the city of Hippo was captured by the Vandals in 431 , the Augustinian monks went to Chipiona with the Black Madonna and built the monastery “Regla”. In the 8th century, the monks fled the Moors and buried the Virgin de Regla near the monastery. After the reconquest by Alfonso X (Castile) in the 13th century, it was found again due to an apparition of Mary .
