Virgin was a Polish rock band formed in 2000 . The band was known in Poland and among Polish fans abroad, and the band was also planning an international career with English songs.
history
Became known singer Doda , called Doda by the Polish reality show Bar and performances in a musical before in 2000, 100 applicants for singer of the band Virgin was selected. The band was founded by Tomek Lubert , the guitarist and original songwriter of the band. He is now responsible for the music and Doda writes the lyrics. Doda stands out not only because of her controversial statements, but also because of her unusual clothes and her figure. She took part in photo shoots for Cosmopolitan , Playboy , the Polish men's magazine CKM and other Polish magazines.
In 2002, the debut album Virgin was released, which sold up to 11,000 times. The released singles stormed the Polish charts.
Between 2004 and 2005, drummer Piotr Pawłowski and bassist Krzysztof Najman left the band for personal reasons and were replaced by drummer Piotr Matysiak and bassist Łukasz Damm. In 2005 the band won two prizes and the competition at the Sopot Festival with their song Znak pokoju ("Sign of Peace"). The ballad is a memory of Pope John Paul II. The song comes from the album Ficca, also released in 2005 .
In addition, Virgin won an award for best "Band of the Year" in 2005 and Doda also won an award for best "Singer of the Year" at the Polish "Eska Music Awards". The album Ficca , released in 2005, went platinum three times in Poland . In 2006 the band won the award for the best song at the Krajowy Festiwal Piosenki Polskiej w Opolu . It was the song from the album Ficca called Szansa ("Chance"), which the singer Doda had written after her accident, after which she had to undergo a serious but successful operation.
In 2007 the band broke up. In December 2012, Doda and Tomasz Lubert announced that the band would re-establish in 2014. In the same year, their fourth studio album will be released.
