Virte
Virte was a French measure of volume for liquids. The following liquids were considered here: wine , cognac and other brandies . It was used to calibrate barrels. The measure was not common across the country. Virte was almost the same size as the Velte .
- Generally 1 virte = 8½ to 9 pints
- Cognac 1 virte = 9 pints
- Angouleme 1 virte = 8 2/5 pints
- Xaintes 1 virte = 8 ¾ pints
