Virtu Ferries is a shipping company based in Ta 'Xbiex in Malta . It offers fast ferry connections between Malta and Italy . The company is 100% Maltese owned and has been operating since 1988. Vehicles have also been transported since 1999. The ships sail under the Maltese flag and are classified by DNV GL .

Routes

Virtu Ferries operated on two connections between Malta and Italy: from the Maltese capital Valletta in one and a half hours to Pozzallo and in three hours to Catania in Sicily . Of this, only the direct connection to Pozzallo remains, Catania is connected by long-distance bus - also by Virtu Ferries - via Pozzallo.

Others

During the NATO intervention in Libya, the Virtu Ferries ferries chartered by the US government evacuated American citizens when air travel was no longer an option.
