Virtual Global University

The Virtual Global University ( VGU ) is a virtual university that offers e-learning over the Internet. It was 2001 by 17 professors of economics computer science or Business Informatics founded and from 14 universities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, according to German law under the name "VGU Private Virtual Global University GmbH" in Berlin.

Within the Virtual Global University, the School of Business Informatics (SBI) is the organizational unit that offers online courses and an online degree program.

Education

According to the academic research areas of the founders, the focus of the study deals VGU in the areas of Information Technology (IT) and management - or combined business computer science or Business Informatics . Business Informatics students learn to use information technology effectively to develop business solutions to global challenges.

All courses offered by the VGU are based on the Internet and generally available information and communication technology and are held entirely with the help of electronic media, or at least significantly supported by them.

MBI program

The VGU offers a master’s degree that leads to the "International Master of Business Informatics (MBI) ". This program has been accredited by ACQUIN . The master's degree is awarded by the European University Viadrina (EUV) in Frankfurt (Oder) in cooperation with the VGU. While the latter provides the expert knowledge and teaching for the program, the EUV is responsible for maintaining the level of academic educational standards. The MBI program is offered in English and German.

In addition to the MBI master’s program , independent courses on a wide variety of IT and management topics are offered. The Virtual Global University issues certificates for these courses after successful participation.

Faculty and Management

Karl Kurb is head of the Virtual Global University and dean of the School of Business Informatics. He is also managing director of VGU GmbH and holds the chair for business informatics at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder).
