The Virtual Campus Rhineland-Palatinate (VCRP) is an inter-university scientific institution of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate , based in Kaiserslautern, founded by the Conference of State University Presidents (LHPK) in 2000 .
task
The tasks and activities of the Virtual Campus Rhineland-Palatinate are divided into the areas of service and support on technical, didactic and administrative topics in e-learning , the networking of e-learning players in Rhineland-Palatinate and topic-related promotion of innovation and research . The VCRP fulfills a service, support and coordination function for all universities in Rhineland-Palatinate. It promotes the introduction of digital educational media as well as new teaching and learning technologies.
The VCRP supports universities by offering an educational software infrastructure. This competence center provides a nationwide learning management system ( OpenOLAT ) with currently more than 100,000 users. The software offering also includes virtual classrooms and e-assessment systems. Since 2016 the VCRP has been offering a nationwide video server service (Panopto) to promote video-based teaching.
activities
In recent years, the VCRP has focused on the opening of universities and the permeability and transitions between education systems through digital media. This focus is currently being supplemented by priorities in the field of media literacy promotion, open educational resources and video-based teaching.
With the establishment of the VCRP E-Cademy, the Virtual Campus Rhineland-Palatinate opened a qualification facility for teachers and others interested in e-learning. The aim of the VCRP E-Cademy is to support actors from the e-learning sector in integrating online components into teaching and to develop their media skills.
The Rhineland-Palatinate E-Learning Day offered by the VCRP and the annual learning management system conference (LMS conference) offer space for discussion and planning of innovative, technology-supported teaching-learning scenarios.
