Viscount Daventry
Viscount Daventry , of Daventry in the County of Nottingham , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Today the Viscount family residence is Arbury Hall near Nuneaton in Warwickshire .
Award
The title was created for Muriel FitzRoy on May 6, 1943 . This was in recognition of the merits of her husband Edward FitzRoy , who had died two months earlier while serving as Speaker of the House of Commons . Usually the speaker was otherwise raised to hereditary nobility when leaving office.
Other titles
There is no subordinate title besides the Viscountswürde. Edward FitzRoy was, however, the second son of the 3rd Baron Southampton and a male descendant of the 2nd Duke of Grafton . The respective Viscount therefore stands in the line of succession for these two titles.
